Serious Issue ....... that MUST be Addressed !!!!!
by Simon inthis is such an important issue, more and more people are succumbing to what must be some viral outbreak wreaking havoc in the world.. i'm talking about unnecessary punctuation.. it's easy to become infected.
you want to write something and add some emphasis so you add an exclamation mark to make it "important!
" but dang, it's not important enough is it??

using the word lead instead of led. Lead is a metal.
to lead--( someone or something ) is a verb. led is the past tense of to lead.

How do you feel about your JW childhood?
by Emily1987 ini was 5 years old when my mother was baptised.
we went from celebrating xmas to no presents or decorations.
we would still go to my unbelieving aunty's house on xmas day, all of my cousins would be playing with their new toys and would wonder why i didn't have any.

Elder Is Dodgy Used Car Salesman
by pale.emperor injust thought i'd relate this story for any lurkers out there.. here in the north west of england there's an elder called george ashton.
the ashton's are a big family, most of the men are appointed as elders or at least min servants.
george owns a used car dealership and almost all jws in liverpool looking for a car have heard of him.

and his excuse would be--" i'm just an imperfect man " ...which was just what i got when i challenged a manager of a double glazing company--who i knew to be an elder---of lying, dishonest practices, and swearing.

My Dad's Funeral
by Disassociated Lady 2 ini had not seen my dad for 15 years because i had left the borg.
(i had been out 26 years but there was a few years when the jws permitted contact with outsiders and then changed their minds again).
they made contact with me again just before he was diagnosed with cancer.

i organised my fathers funeral. i made sure it was not a watchtower event. i didnt tell any of them. just a private committal--me, 2 ex jw friends and a few care home staff who had looked after him in his last years.

When did Cook, the new GB member, start claiming to be anointed, and what are the implications?
by jwfacts inkenneth cook was a "helper" in the writing department, which is apparently a role for those of the great crowd.
watchtower 15/10/15 p.3 states that helpers are of the great crowd.
"since 1992, the governing body has appointed experienced, mature christian elders to help its committees carry out their work.

Is the average JW sycophantic?
by stuckinarut2 inwas just pondering the mindset of the average jw.. would it be appropriate to think that many are sycophants?.
think of the way they act towards those they preach to.
or the way they act towards one another in the congregation - especially towards those taking the lead (elders).
-
stan livedeath
i suppose another definition of sycophant is a brown nose

Family is now reaping what they sowed and they don't like it.
by Gemmel ini resigned from the jw's in my 20's over 30 years ago, i was immediately shunned by my entire family and it's remained that way with a few exceptions ever since.
one of those exceptions was being contacted by a cousin a few years back and during that conversation i discovered that my mother had been and still was the prime mover in my complete and continuing shunning.
i then used what contacts i had left to confirm it.

of course--you could pay up--if you can afford it. but on condition your brother never sets foot in a kingdom hall again. put the ball back in his court.
